Scarlett was the first VESC I built, starting back in 2022 after being sorely disappointed that my GT, purchased on launch day, was not meeting my needs. I loved my XR and the GT was supposed to have 300% more power if FM was to be believed. But alas, the GT only offered perhaps 10% more power than the XR, and it handled like crap. Building a VESC was my only option at the time if I wanted the handling characteristics of the XR with performance superior to FM's then-flagship model.
[10/31/22] The goal of this build was to exceed the GT capabilities in every aspect, without trade-offs: Better torque, better range, better speed, better handling, better compatibility, repair and upgradeability, better everything. This build met that goal.
The one thing that I gave up was internal lighting. Internal lighting options for VESC were not mainstream at the time, but I mounted the Hangover bike helmet light (which is insanely bright) that I already had to the top of my Overlander Lifter.
"Scarlett" was named after a GI Joe character who shared the orange and green color scheme of this VESC build. This became my backup and loaner board after making my first Thor300, "Argos," in 2024.
